About Me

Karen Lewis spent her early years as a Certified Public Accountant and bank Senior Vice-president.  She was declared 100% disabled almost two decades ago by two physicians with diagnoses of thirty-four diseases, primarily autoimmune.

She found a specific trauma treatment, Holographic Memory Resolution®, HMR, which helped her heal and get back into the workforce as an advanced clinical hypnotherapist and certified HMR practitioner.  She has been working with clients in that capacity for more than fifteen years. Some of her client referrals are from four different doctors who send their patients with chronic pain, depression, or anxiety for which they find no medical basis or remedy.

KAREN H. LEWIS, ACH, CHMRP

She has completed the seven-month Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies with the Trauma Research Foundation and supervision with Dr. Janina Fisher of that organization. Karen completed a three-year course of study for Heart-Centered Therapy with the Wellness Institute of Issaquah, Washington.  She has also completed an extensive study, Understanding the Brain, with Dr. Jeanette Nordan of Vanderbilt University and Neuroscience, Psychopharmacology and Neuroscience-Informed Therapies at Mississippi Christian University.  Karen is also certified for Community Health Ministry by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center and is certified as a disaster relief chaplain by the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.

Internal Family Systems Therapy classes Karen has completed include Treating Complex Trauma with Internal Family Systems with Dr. Frank Anderson and Internal Family Systems Master Class with Dr. Anderson and Dr. Richard Schwartz.

Karen was one of four researchers who completed the QEEG, quantitative electroencephalogram, study with HMR® therapy which showed the changes to clients’ brains after a one-hour HMR® session.

She is a supervisor and trainer helping others learn HMR and Is on the Board of Directors of Michael’s Gift, a nonprofit formed to promote research and education on HMR.

She has discussed HMR with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, author of “The Body Keeps the Score” and he has described HMR as “rich” therapy and recommended that other therapists learn it to help their clients.

Karen has written and led many seminars for CPAs and to groups interested in learning HMR®.  A recent seminar she designed and taught was to a group of over 100 psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals at Louisiana State University.
